HEMP CASTING FIBER

Hemp casting fiber is long thin strands of natural fiber from the
abaca plant. Abaca is related to the banana plant family. It’s
scientific name is Musa Textilis. Abaca is grown in the Philippines.
The long thin strands are obtained from the Abaca plant leaf sheaths.
Hemp casting fiber is commonly used with plaster or gypsum.
The hemp casting fiber reinforces the plaster/gypsum casting molds
so that the molds or castings do not break apart when drying.
Hemp fiber from the abaca plant can also be twisted together to
make Manila rope.
Hemp casting fiber is packaged in 37 pound bales.
